MaK disincorporated and gained independence under the company name MaK Maschinenbau GmbH, Kiel

Joint Venture with Chinese partner (Guangzhou MaK Diesel Engine Ltd. Co)

MaK shares acquired by Caterpillar Inc., Peoria, USA, and renamed to MaK Motoren GmbH & Co.KG      
 

1999
Acquired the former Dieselmotorenwerk Rostock (DMR) as an additional production site

Renamed to Caterpillar Motoren GmbH & Co. KG

Caterpillar Motoren: 100% shareholder
